Our rules
Editorial standards
- Figures come from the model's own listing and are checked against its title and bullet points.
- Flow is always given with the rise it applies to. Where a maker states only a maximum flow and an input, our flow at your rise is labelled an estimate from the input.
- Gas lines, venting and 240-volt circuits are the maker's stated requirements and are flagged as work for a licensed gas fitter, plumber or electrician. The planners never say a unit will run on a given panel or line.
- A kit or valve is shown as fitting a heater only when its maker or listing names that heater or series.
- No energy-savings figures beyond what the maker or a government source states, and no claim that a unit qualifies for a rebate or tax credit unless the program says so.
- Top-unit lists state the rule a unit must meet and the maker figure they are sorted by.
- Commissions have no say in what is covered, how a list is sorted or what a page says a unit can't do.
